A Mish-Mash of a Hodge-Podge of a Collection of Craptastic Crap

A few things to get to, none of which I doubt are important to any of you, but you’ve started reading so, really, why not finish? Commit to something for once in your life, you unreliable bastard.

So, I suppose I should first address the whole “AmazonFail” business.

For those not in the know, Amazon has apparently begun removing books from their book ranks that they deem to be “Adult” in nature.

To be removed from the book ranks means it’s much, much harder to locate it using their search. In fact, in many cases, it’s downright impossible.

There are a few problems with the whole “THESE BOOKS ARE ADULT OMG NO ONE LOOK” thing:

One: If Amazon is removing the links to these books because they’re adult in nature and they don’t want children stumbling across them in searches, shouldn’t they also remove links to, oh I dunno, SEX TOYS?

That’s right, you can’t look up these books, but you can find a fantastic deal on a neon pink dildo. (buy in bulk and shipping is FREE!)

Two: The phrase “this book contains adult material” is a pretty broad statement. Who’s to say what constitutes “adult” material, really?

Three: So far, a majority of the books removed have been of a gay and lesbian theme. Not just in the story, mind you, but several books from gay and lesbian authors have also been removed.

Yeah. Here’s a list of the books removed so far.

I wasn’t really going to talk about this yet, because according to Amazon the whole thing is a “glitch”, and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Though, this whole debacle being just a glitch, and not someone going through the database and saying “This is adult, and that’s adult, and, oh, my god, that is definitely adult…”, seems a bit hard to believe, really.

So, there’s that.

Here’s what I look like RIGHT NOW:

(actually, that’s what I looked like three or four nights ago, but I’m basically the same guy in that picture. I’ve shaved since then, also, I’ve had a migraine.)

I present to you, a music themed challenge!

CHALLENGE:

Step One: Start an account at Blip.FM, if you don’t already have one.

Step Two: Either comment on this page with a link to your profile, or add me as a favorite DJ. I’ll add you back, swearsies.

Step Three: Share with me some of your favorite music (if you can find it on Blip. Sometimes it gets difficult to find certain bands/singers/songs).

GO!

Two blogs you should be following. Y’know, if you’re cool and stuff.

EdgarWrightHere.Com is filmmaker Edgar Wright’s personal blog, where he posts things of a personal and professional manner.

Mostly professional.

And ScottPilgrimTheMovie.Com is the official site of the film, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, based on the wonderful indy comic of similar name(s), and the latest of Edgar Wright’s film projects.

And one I’m definitely looking forward to.

Also, check out the first “video blog” entry on that Pilgrim blog, as it shows his level of commitment to his cast and crew.

Here, have David Bowie and Arcade Fire performing Wake Up:

Here, also have the trailer for the new film, The Brothers Bloom, starring Mark Ruffalo, Adrian Brody and Rachel Weisz:

I need to absent-mindedly stagger into the kitchen and throw some pots and pans around until food appears.

More later.

  1. I JUST GOT SPAM’D (it’s like getting serve’d, but way worse).

I thought Tumblr was just another blog service. I may need to look into this.

    Side note: You are sexy.
